                                           NATIVE AMERICANS




The first Americans known in English as "Native Americans", still have their traditions, such as the pow wow, a type of party where different tribes meet, sing and dance.

Pow wows have dance competitions. Dancers wear clothes decorated with feathers and beads. Singers are the music provided.
            
                                                             TEPEE

Today Native Americans live in simple and modern houses. They sleep in "tepees". In the old days they were made of animals but moderns are made in canvas.

                                                DREAM CATCHER

A dream catcher stops bad dreams. They are caught in the web while good dreams come in through a hole in the centre. Dream catcher are decorated with feathers or beads.

                                                     JEWELLERY

Native Americans make beautiful jewellery with silver, turquoise, shells, beads and stones. They were making jewellery many years before the European arrived in America.

                                                    A POW WOW

A pow wow  is a traditional gathering of Native Americans. At pow wows, Indian's of all tribes sing, dance and have fun. It is also a way of keeping their traditions.

Rodeo is a Native American tradition. The rodeo are competitions for adults and children.
