Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the United States.

The catcher is behind the batter.

The baseball glove is special, it helps to catch the ball more easily.

The rubber ball is hard. In professional  matches, they use several  dozens of balls in each game.

Baseball bat is made of wood or metal. It is about 1 metre long.

Baseball trousers are white. The shirt has the logo of team. Players all wear baseball caps to shade their eyes  from the sun. Now baseball caps are popular all over the world.

The first Americans known in English as "Native Americans", still have their traditions, such as the pow wow, a type of party where different tribes meet, sing and dance.


                                                             DANCING

Pow wows have dance competitions. Dancers wear clothes decorated with feathers and beads. Singers are the music provided.
            
                                                             TEPEE

Today Native Americans live in simple and modern houses. They sleep in "tepees". In the old days they were made of animals but moderns are made in canvas.


                                                DREAM CATCHER

A dream catcher stops bad dreams. They are caught in the web while good dreams come in through a hole in the centre. Dream catcher are decorated with feathers or beads.

                                                     JEWELLERY

Native Americans make beautiful jewellery with silver, turquoise, shells, beads and stones. They were making jewellery many years before the European arrived in America.

                                                    A POW WOW

A pow wow  is a traditional gathering of Native Americans. At pow wows, Indian's of all tribes sing, dance and have fun. It is also a way of keeping their traditions.

Rodeo is a Native American tradition. The rodeo are competitions for adults and children.

"Roast beef" and "fish and chips" are two traditional English dishes-they´re very good!"English breakfast" is good too when you´re feeling very hungry!


A traditional English breakfast includes: fruit, juice or cereals. Then you have eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and sometimes baked beans.

                              LUNCH OR DINNER

Fish and chips are delicious, you buy from a shop.

Roast beef is English Sunday lunch. You can eat baked beans for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Traditional Indian food are curry and rice.

            AFTERNOON TEA

Tea is a very popular drink in England. People drink tea every evening, on holidays, or on especial occasions.

  SANDWICHES AND SNACKS

In England people love sandwiches. They sometimes have sandwiches for afternoon tea.

ANIMALS IN CANADA

Most animals in the Artic are white. This serves as camuflage in the snow.

The polar bears are the biggest bears in the world. They weigh 300 and 650 kilos. They eat plants in summer and in winter they eat artic hares, artic foxes and harp seals. They can swim long distances, they're very good swimmers. They live for about 25 years.

The artic hares  live in groups or 100 to 300 animals. Hares hop at 64km. They eat, lichens, mosses, seaweed, bark, roots... and even the meat from hunters traps.

The harp seals are marine mamals. Baby harp seals have a white coat for 10 to 14 days. Their enemies are the artic fox, polar bears and man, who hunts them for their coats. They live for about 30 years.

Caribou , in Canada there are 2.4 milion Caribous.They eat plants. The artic foxes, wolwes and bears are their enemies. Males and females grow new antlers every year. This animal belong to the reinder.

The artic fox eat, caribou, hares,birds and the birds eggs. The polar bear and man are their enemies. They hunt them for their coats.

The snowy owl is an official bird in Canada. They are active all day and night. Snowy owl eat hares, mices, an birds. In Canada the temperature is -50º C, and the snowy owl survives at this temperature.
